Electricians' Installation Information

Every Mr. Electricity® comes "plug-and-play ready".
Our input cord has a 125V/30A twist lock plug. Your electrician
will need to provide the mating connector which is a NEMA L5-30
with a 120V/30A line from your breaker panel.
The output cord has a NEMA L14-30 (30A) twist lock receptacle which
plugs into a matching generator switch panel. Your electrician will
need to purchase the switch panel with six or ten switches and install
the switch panel next to your breaker panel. These switch panels
are also available from our price list on the Order Form page.
A generator switch panel makes it easy to turn zones in your home
on or off as needed. Critical items such as a furnace, sump pump
or emergency lights are normally left in the Mr. Electricity®
position.
If a generator switch panel is already installed in your home,
we will match Mr. Electricity® to be plug-and-play ready with
your existing panel.
Recharging Mr. Electricity® 's batteries with a traditional
generator during extended power outages is easy. Simply disconnect
the 120V/30A utility line at Mr. Electricity® 's input. Use
a heavy-duty extension cord connecting the generator's 120 Volt
output to Mr. Electricity® 's 120V/30A input.
There is no need for a manual transfer switch to avoid "back-feeding
the line". This is an automatic feature built into every Mr.
Electricity® . Traditional generators should be installed with
a manual transfer switch. If your home already has a manual transfer
switch it can simply remain in the utility position or be removed.
For remote camps and/or portable use, Mr. Electricity® comes
standard with a 120V/15A GFI (ground fault interrupt) output. You
can simply plug an extension cord into the GFI providing AC power
for such things as a TV.
For silent power at a remote camp, you may choose not to do the
complete installation with a generator switch box as noted above.
